| The new number one and Olympic champion destroyed Roger Federer in the final of the French Open and edged out the same man in a classic Wimbledon final, but has yet to get past the quarter-finals here.
Last year he was beaten in straight sets in the fourth round by David Ferrer, but his hard court form this season has been good, reaching the semi-finals at least of all seven tournaments entered.
Although he turned that into only one win, at the Rogers Cup, the momentum built up by the Spaniard means this could be the year for him to break his duck in New York - the bookies certainly think so having installed him as favourite ahead of Federer. |
